SURFACE CIRCULATION
This 'exercise' does, I am quick to admit, look a bit weird in the first place and now even weirder in the video (left)! It is however included here as it should be; that is - 'basic' and fundamental to any warm up set/routine. This simple slapping or patting stimulates blood circulation to the external surface (skin) of the body. (It is well known that 'pinching' the cheeks instantly produces a 'rosy glow'!) This exercise is recommended 'basic' and ready now for absolutely anyone to put into practice immediately.
Practitioners that have studied the circulation of Chi deeply will appreciate that this 'flows' up and down or through the limbs (and other areas) in certain directions and along specific routes. Very basically the theory is: down or 'outward' along the inside of arms and legs - and then up or 'returning' along the outside. I have no intentions to discuss that sort of sophistication here and now as 'basic'. I am nevertheless happy to now leave it to you and your instincts to slap or pat as you wish!
Please do not that at the conclusion of 'patting' I return to the Preparation/Conclusion posture. The clip (left) then returns to the start. It is taken as read that following this and ..."when I can again see my reflection in the water" ... ... I return to Attention to conclude 'completely'.
